Southwest Healthcare System’s Inland Valley Medical Center Campus in Wildomar announced today significant expansion and renovation plans that include the construction of a new patient tower. This follows last year’s announcement that Southwest Healthcare’s Rancho Springs Medical Center Campus in Murrieta will undergo expansion and renovation, focusing on Women’s and Children’s services and other key clinical offerings such as the health system’s robotics program. The facility master plan, comprising the two projects, will total more than $400 million, the largest expansion investment to date committed by parent company Universal Health Services, a perennial Fortune 500 company.

The new seven-story patient tower at Inland Valley will feature:

• Modern, state-of-the-art private patient rooms
• Installation of leading-edge clinical technologies for minimally invasive procedures and advanced therapies
• Globally sustainable infrastructure enhancements including energy-efficient LED fixtures and solar panels

The Inland Valley Campus will continue to feature the award-winning services of bariatric weight-loss surgery, the total joint program for hip, knee and shoulder replacement, as well as surgical services for spine and the region’s only Level II American College of Surgeons (ACS) Verified Trauma Center. The project is currently anticipated to be completed in phases over the course of the next two to five years, with particular focus to ensure that the facilities will remain open for patient care with minimal disruption.

Recent distinctions and accolades include Inland Valley as an Advanced Certified Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, the Total Joint Center awarded advanced certification from The Joint Commission for hip and knee surgery, as well as core certification for shoulder surgery, and spine services certified by The Joint Commission. Inland Valley is also a nationally recognized center for weight-loss surgery by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program and was awarded the Blue Distinction for outstanding bariatric surgical services.

Southwest Healthcare System is one of the largest employers in Southwest Riverside County with currently more than 1,600 team members. This comprehensive project is expected to create over 1,600 design and construction jobs, as well as hundreds of new hospital jobs including nurses, therapists, technicians, and housekeeping, once all new patient care areas are open.
